Busy weekend

We had a busy weekend. Friday, we had relatives from Dallas come down. Everyone got together at Lisa's. I made two desserts, one regular and one sugar free. Uncle Dub is diabetic and I know how hard it is when everyone is eating dessert around you. So when that side of Michael's family get together, I always make sure that Uncle Dub gets to have something yummy dessert-wise.
Sat, Michael and I spent the earlier part of that day going through Poppy's clothes, books and sundry items. We took 2 loads down to the local charity that sells those things and uses the proceeds to help the homeless. Since a large majority of the homeless are disabled veterans, I thought Poppy would approve. We sold Poppy's truck, camper shell, electric wheelchair and wheelchair lift. It was bought by a guy who needed it for his mom. She is disabled and he needed all of it to take her to various places. It is nice to know that it will be put to good use once again.
These little steps are hard, but Michael wanted to do them and I wanted to do them on his timeline.
Then we had a family get together with Sherry, Mike's stepsister. It was our first get together since Poppy's passing. It was hard on Michael. I know there will continue to be hard, bittersweet times for quite a while. Remember him in your prayers.
Ben is back full time at his job. He is doing a repeat of his job/internship last summer. He is so thankful to be finished with this semester. He got 2 A's and 2 B's. That means he kept his scholarship for his last year. What a great blessing!
Knitting-wise:
I finished my Brandywine Shawl. I have to block it and then I will post pictures. I finished my Creature Comfort Cardi. It is really lovely. I need to get pictures of it, too. I did another Cute as a Ladybug Baby Cardigan with the leftovers of Knit Picks Comfy of my Spring In Bloom. I started an Autumn version of my Leaves A'buddin and A'blazin and am finishing up the band on a remake of my Leaf Me Alone, I'm Knitting cardigan vest. I am doing it in Knit Picks Bulky Comfy in the color Copper with a tighter gauge of 4 sts to the inch.
Tomorrow is my Weight Watchers weigh-in day. I had many opportunities to screw up on my diet, this weekend. So I do not go into this weigh-in with confidence. I was diligent, but we will see. I did discover this weekend that strawberry sugar-free jello with fresh strawberries is very satisfying. I bought some orange flavored jello and mandarin oranges to try this way. Dessert is such a weakness for me.

Grief does have its setbacks just when you think you are doing better! Be patient with its work. I think the older I get, the more important dessert becomes-hope the weigh in goes well in spite of things!
