Can't step away from this pattern!

It is not very often that a pattern comes along that totally rocks my lace knitting world, but I am working on one now. I very rarely let myself knit some other designers designs. I have too much "must do" knitting for that pleasure or luxury. I have many that I WANT to knit, but few that I will LET myself knit. In the Pink by Izzy of IzzyKnits is a wonderful exception. I am captivated by this shawl. Special thanks goes out to Joan of Simply Sentsational Knits who brought it to my attention. I have held myself away as long as I could. It has been hard! After all, I had the yarn already purchased!
I started it Thanksgiving night and worked on it during the drive to visit my Mom the next day. I am now finished with the back medallion and the two smaller ones on either side of it. This is such a unique shawl design. I wanted to start it for New Year’s Day 2009, but could not wait. The center medallion worked up nice and quickly. The slow variegation of the Jojoland Melody is so perfect for this shawl.While making the center back Medallion, I couldn’t help but see Van Gogh’s Starry Night painting in the swirl. I may make a second one in a color that mimics that painting and call it my “Van Gogh Starry Night, In the Pink”.
While knitting this, my thoughts have been about how great a pattern this is and how uniquely structured it is. It is a marvelous design and I am highly impressed with its complexities. My hat goes off to Izzy for giving us this beauty!Thanks Joan for telling me about it!

Knitting progress: I am finished with one of my sock from my Socks that Rock yarn and started the second one. I am still weaving on the warp of dishtowels on my loom. Mostly, I have been knitting on the above shawl.
